Cell Phone Policy
All Cell Phones, Tablets, and AirPods must be turned off and put away during academic time.

Procedures with Cell Phone Pouches
All cellphones, tablets, and AirPods must be turned off and put away. Any student who violates this policy will have their phone secured in a secure cell phone pouch and returned to the student. At he end of the day they may take their pouch to a Student Safety Advisor to unlock the pouch.
Any student who breaks into the pouch will be charged $10.00 for the pouch and have their phone confiscated until the end of the day.
What If
- I need to get in touch with my student during the day?
- Early Release:
- Call (707) 890-3830 X50195
- Call at least 1 hour before the requested pick-up time
- Send in a note with your student
- Emergency:
- Contact the main office at (707) 890-3830, and the operator will connect you with the administration or the appropriate staff member to support you.
- Sick Student:
- The student should go to their class and then get a pass to go to the Health Office. The Health Tech will contact the parent/guardian if the student needs to be picked up.
- Dropping off items:
- Please drop off any items to the attendance office, and a message will be sent to your student to retrieve their stuff.
- Non-Immediate Communication:
- Message your student on their cell phone, and they can check it before brunch, lunch, and after school.

What If
- A student uses their phone for medical purposes?
- This is an area where exceptions will be made. The student can still receive consequences for inappropriate use of their phone.
- A student needs their phone for IEP/504 accommodations or EL support?
- These needs should be able to be met through use of their Chromebook. Can review on a case-by-case basis.

Progressive Discipline
Students who violate the MHS Cell Phone policy will have the following disciplinary consequences

1st offense
- The phone will be secured in a cell phone pouch, and the pouch and phone will be returned to the student. At the end of the school day, students can bring their pouches to the office of a Campus Safety Advisor so they can be unlocked.

2nd offense
- The phone will be secured in a cell phone pouch, and the pouch and phone will be returned to the student. At the end of the school day, students can bring their pouches to the office of a Campus Safety Advisor so they can be unlocked.
- Parents or guardians will be notified.

3rd offense
- Parents or guardians will have to pick up his/her phone from the main office at the end of the day.

4th offense
- Administrative staff will hold a parent meeting, and their child’s phone will be put away at the beginning of every day while on school grounds for a week.
